Win Big:

at Church!

For a long time now, churches have used gimmicks in an attempt to get people to attend church events.  I remember a minister who promised his congregation that if attendance on Easter Sunday hit a certain number, he would preach the next Sunday from the roof of the church building.  It did and he did!  It was quite a news event in a small town.  This hasn't always been a horrible thing - but it lends itself to abuse.

In the last few years that abuse has become evident as all kinds a churches have taken up the practice of giving people gifts for attending church functions.  It has become so common, in fact, that we have created a little room here at The Clubhouse devoted to exploring this phenomenon.  Below you will find commentary on the the whole idea, and a continuing collection of examples of the practice.  These examples can be both a little amusing, and a little sad.  So crack a smile and wipe a tear as you explore below.  By the way, visitors here can expect no prizes whatsoever.
