  1. Define “proverb.” Include two or three examples in your answer.
  2. On p. 84, Stein asks, “Is a proverb to be interpreted as a universal law? In about 100 words, sum up Stein’s answer to this question. Provide and explain some helpful examples.
  3. Identify the following verses of scripture as a. proverb b. not a proverb
    1. ____ “Take nothing for your journey, no staff, nor bag, nor bread, nor money...”
    2. ____ “I tell you, No; but unless you repent you will all likewise perish.”
    3. ____ “For where your treasure is, there will your heart be also.”
    4. ____ “For all who draw the sword will die by the sword.”
    5. ____ “Good Teacher, what shall I do to inherit eternal life?”
